Opportunity Links works with local and national government, developing innovative solutions for managing and delivering information services to families, young people and older people.

Examples of our work over the last ten years:

  • Delivering high quality Childcare and Families Information Services
  • Delivering outreach programmes locally as part of Healthy Living centres, in partnership with Jobcentre Plus and with European Social Funding to help improve access to social information to support people in returning to work
  • Working in partnership with the Department of Children, Schools and Families to provide a national childcare website: ChildcareLink (recently replaced by the national Families Information Directory)
  • Developing and supplying the operating system used by most local authorities to manage and upload this information to the ChildcareLink website
  • Providing networking support to managers of Childcare and Families Information services nationally
  • Working closely with the Department of Children, Schools and Families to shape and develop national policy and legislation for information for families
  • Developing toolkits to help local authorities to implement large-scale initiatives such as the Extended Early Learning and Childcare Offer for 3 and 4 year-olds and Participation
  • Developing and delivering training for staff teams on Information, Advice and Guidance
  • Training staff teams to use IT systems effectively
  • Helping local authorities to plan and deliver better information for families
  • Helping local authorities understand the needs of their local communities, in particular for the development of children's centres and the information that families require
  • Conducting research to better understand the impact of work-life balance policy on the regional economy
  • Developing IT systems to help local authorities deliver and present information more effectively for children, young people, professionals, parents and carers
  • Working collaboratively to provide the first online support and information service for grandparents: BeGrand.net
